Church & State & Truth
So, the multiple porn stars & pay-offs & fervent infidelity didn’t offend the evangelicals or GOP. Fraternizing with accused sex assaulters & pedophiles is OK? How does spreading incessant lies, as a world leader, become accepted as a norm by any American politician, preacher or voter (especially if the politician is American)?
A U.S. president, who could easily be a guest on Jerry Springer, is, frankly, deplorable. So, for MAGA, the GOPredators unite.
The church folk didn’t even flinch at his potty mouth that spreads incessant lies along with immature insults. Clergy said NOTHING when he lied to the world about Stormy Daniels and much more.
They barely blinked when he couldn’t accurately say, “2nd Corinthians”. Who has EVER phrased it, “Two Corinthians” unless your telling a story, like, “ Two Corinthians walked into a temple…”. Many evangelicals believed he would smite the gays and pro-choicers and immigrants for them. It was his key to getting their votes. Meanwhile, he admitted that he has no time for God.
Their short attention spans (and good Russian & GOP backed propaganda) assured them that he would make this world a better place. His pathological lies didn’t even make the bishops blush (thou shall not lie is so old school). You’d think hypocrisy was hip, since 45 and his political pawns practice it routinely and unrepentant glee.
It’s shamefully ironic, that those church folk, who march for the “right to life”, don’t give two flips about those killed at our borders — they even let the children suffer in cages. They, apparently, think 45 is doing God’s work to protect us from the evils coming from the southern border. The church folk, who send missionaries across the country and around the world, don’t flinch as families seeking refuge are separated & even denied medical care. They even let the GOP & GOP- FRIENDLY judges slow-erase Obamacare without a replacement, when they’ve had over 10 years to make healthcare better. And, since the Affordable Care Act was crafted by President Obama, that is all that’s needed to make Trumpites dislike it.
And, 45’s GOP opponents — who condemned him in speeches, tweets & debates — have miraculously become converts to Trumpism. It’s politically profitable to worship at his feet, when it gets them votes in racist & unconstitutionally drawn districts. Trump insulted Lindsey, Rubio, Cruz, Romney, women, Black, Brown, immigrants and countless others and some still flock. He will talk about their spouse & parents & very being — yet, they still, sheepishly, sing his praise, as if they are in an orange, cultish haze. I don’t understand how people are ok with being lied to — frequently.
Livin’ his life like he’s Chosen
Trump, once, casually looked into the sky and bragged, that he was the “chosen one” (false prophet-ish?) and got no criticism from his faithful followers. He claimed to be the possessor of “unmatched wisdom”, yet, he gets cheered by his rally-goers and Congressional co-conspirators. YES, there are some who condemn the hypocrisy of Trumpism. But, would call his affliction, narcissism. Discerning church folk would immediately name him a false profit. Oh, the omnipotence of it all.
Racism & myriad “isms” are staples in the Trump White Nationalist House. Giving a white nationalis top security clearance and ready access (including speech-, letter- & policy-writing authority) to the president is a sin against the legacy of God & the party of Lincoln. But, that is AOK for the congressional faithful followers. Some even believe that Trump gave them new power to say, “MERRY CHRISTMAS!”. Did YOU know Democrat banned it?!? Me either.
Neither lies, nor numerous indicted & convicted friends of Trump shall stop many evangelicals (and not just white ones) from ordaining Trump as the man for all seasons. Some of his “best and brightest” are (or SHOULD be) doing time. Yet, the GOP choir; led by the morally off-key Kevin McCarthy (House) & Mitch McConnell (Senate); sings in unison. They praise and worship every utterance from Trump’s unholy grail. In their shrill chorus, lies magically become truths. Discredited & questionable attorneies are praised. McConnell happily wields his power in appointing judges, to create a nation in Trumpism’s image. The Trumpites have become so skilled at singing his tunes, they’ve begun to sing in Russian. And it’s OK by them. Wonder if they know about Russia’s version of Religious Freedom?
But Impeachment.
With 15,000+ “false statements & misleading claims” (averaging 14 each day of the 1,055 days since his inauguration), and all of the aforementioned assaults on decency & humanity, how did “impeachment” become the last straw for #ChristianityToday, a publication founded by the renowned late evangelist, Billy Graham (noting that his son, Franklin, is a BFF of Trump).
“To use an old cliché, it’s time to call a spade a spade, to say that no matter how many hands we win in this political poker game, we are playing with a stacked deck of gross immorality and ethical incompetence”, wrote Mark Galli, editor-in-chief of Christianity Today. He clearly disagrees with Franklin & the alleged spirit of Rev. Graham and says that the immoral Trump not just be impeached, but, removed from office! Can I get an Amen?!!
What a revelation! I could say, better late than never, Mark, but, you will hear enough critics — by and by. Some folk will talk about you. Others will cancel their subscriptions out of anger. You might even get tweeted at by the subject of your commentary (you know he likes doing that). Yep, some faithful will still be ok with worshiping him, but, you stand your ground. God sees you — and them.
Trump’s offender list grows longer weekly. His horribly disrespectful remarks towards the Dingell family is naturally Trump. Some of his followers are so deeply entrenched in racism, hate, disproven conspiracies, greed, power — and some good old ignorance & brain-washing — that they will need the exorcist to rid them of his doctrine.
A powerful editorial and impeachment just contribute to the discord in the land that he’s divided like Moses parted the Red Sea. The cultish grooming of his followers is courtesy of manipulative media, conniving commentators & profiteering pundits has taken a toll on a nation that stopped learning civics and its history. We laughed at people who didn’t know their states, elected officials or other common sense matters during late night talk show segments. Those were voters who don’t know about their country.
The wealthy & foreign folks who want to keep their wealth unregulated or our country in disarray are winning in TrumpNation. They have demonized balanced media, Obama, immigrants, the Left, and anything “not Trump” so badly, there is a cultish fever in our midst that won’t easily break. The democratic institution & social & moral values that made us the beacon on the hill, are dimmed in an unsightly orange tint.
Maybe Loudermilk needs a good test of “Who said it: Trump or Jesus?” I’d be surprised if Loudermilk would get any right, though. That orange haze makes some folk delusional. More Americans are recognizing how the Trump administration betrays the Constitution and truth, daily. Conversations and commentary, like a recent editorial in The Christian Post, remind people that having a moral obligation is more than any one issue. Truth is Truth. But, there are people like Rev. Jim Bakker, who wants to ride the Trump political coattail — where truth is inconvenient
Gotta Have Faith
The Dems (and anyone paying attention) knew that Trump didn’t have the integrity to hold the highest office. Their desire for impeachment wasn’t about being partisan, but, 66million people of faith (or not) had a degree of discernment that wouldn’t allow them to vote for him. We know our systems have been tainted, which makes the election tainted. Repeat after me: majority of voters in america didn’t vote for Trump, but the election was trumped by archaic protocols & modern day shenanigans — foreign and domestic. If he and his chorus that hasn’t been arrested (yet) were so innocent, they’d testify before the Senate under oath. They’d hand over the records that were requested by the House. The WH would release his taxes instead of taking the fight to the Supreme Court (which he’s also rigged). If he were innocent…

The Access Hollywood recording, admissions from testimonies captured in the Muller Report, & the impeachment inquiry has put Trump and his amorality on full display. Some excuse it as “just being Trump”- as if that is a good thing to be. He’s shown who he is. With each show, more can see him more clearly. But, how many more church folk and others will find their moral compass before the next elections is anybody’s guess. Hopefully, more than enough to get the White House and the rest of our government saved.
