Do your Duty

Unless it’s someone deemed “important” to the media, one gun death doesn’t rise to national attention. Three or more killed at one time gets people emotional (for a couple minutes).

If you count every single or double mass shooting in a day in the U.S., you have the equivalent to a national mass shooting — but, media won’t see the national truth. We should be outraged about all of it. Guns are not making us safer. We cannot afford to ignore this violent truth any more.

Federal officials routinely declare consumer products that cause illnesses or kill people, as dangerous and/or remove the product from shelves. Cigarettes are, minimally, deemed hazardous to your health. Strong lobbyists have helped keep them on the market, though. All of these gun-related killings (and injuries and traumas) should warrant equal urgency to resolve.

For example, if an illness is determined to be caused by lettuce, officials seek to isolate its origin. They take action. We know the origins of what’s killing us when guns are involved.

The hate-motivated killings deserve special recognition, because they are especially criminal and need to be addressed. Laws were passed to address such crimes. The FBI has created a profile of those killings. That’s what you do to isolate and work to mitigate threats. White males are the majority of these killers. Domestic terrorism, even if directed towards a specific population, is a threat to ALL of us. Facts are facts.

Congress, particularly, Republican Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, is ignoring the majority of Americans, who want gun reform. If you agree, YOU should be calling your elected officials in Congress 202–224–3121. McConnell leads the senate, and the senate legislates for the nation, so the Kentucky senator works for you, too. Call & message him/them directly and voice your concerns. YOU must take for your safety, and that of our children, seriously — especially, when elected officials don’t.

And, most of the same membrrs of the House & Senate who won’t do anything regarding guns are also silent on the increasingly volatile #climate, fair wages, better education, healthcare and much more. Silent elected officials are NOT doing their jobs. They are NOT protecting us, because WE are not holding them accountable. Do YOUR job, which includes making them do theirs. Vote as if your lives depend upon the decision — because it does. #VotePeople
