Today’s racist politicians need a trip to Sesame Street. Maybe a visit to Puerto Rico (originally aired November 26, 1979). Sadly, politicians (yes, even politicians of color) are compromised to demonize a show that teaches kids about unity and diversity.
Know History: Racist Mississippi politicians (like today’s racist southern leaders) banned Sesame Street.
And today, as we celebrate the Dodgers World Series victory Florida leaders wanted to ban a book on the Puerto Rican baseball hero and humanitarian Roberto Clemente’s life because it talks about racism he experienced. Hateful politicians don’t want Jackie Robinson or Hank Aaron’s story told either. And the late, great Mr. Aaron once had to call out the RNC for considering a racist candidate for president. It led to his separation from the Republican Party.
Not today.
MAGA racist Republicans (and their evangelical friends) are spreading lies and hate about Haitians, Puerto Ricans, Black Americans, and other groups. They rather ban books & teaching against racism, hate, discrimination and fact-based history across America. America and its athletes should know better by now — racism is everywhere that you give it a seat.
We must recognize that many of us have common enemies — racism; bigotry; disinformation; bias; discrimination; greed; hate. So, we are so much stronger, when we unify against them.
We must call out, push out, vote out, hate everywhere. Use your voice, your vision and your vote everyday!
