About those Black Republicans

I have to wonder if (how) you ignored the vitriol against President Obama for 8+ years, cloaked in party loyalty but rife with plain old bigotry as its frame. As a Black person, did you feel oblivious or immune to the evil depictions of the last First Family; not mocking his skills or his policies, but their race? I know there were Dems who also hated the fact that there was a Black president, but the truth is Black repubs are only embraced when they, as one repub elder said, go along to get along. How much is it worth to remain silent while being used to add color to a pundit panel or a tv screen?

Glad you spoke up, but there are too many — Black; White; Asian; Latinx; Dem; etc — who stay silent & go along to get along, while the nation is being stripped of simple decency and humanity. This president has said — and bragged to have done — enough to make him unfit for office. He’s not alone.

If you were outraged by the president’s comments after the horrors of Charlottesville, good. I’m glad you said something. I guess everyone has a last straw moment. I hope you don’t forget his words and deeds again. That is the biggest assault to our faith — and folks try to fake that the threat against Christianity was commentary about Christmas or abortions or placement of religious symbols. Christians/evangelicals say they support this administration for the faith and defend someone who has yet to demonstrate Jesus’ basic rules for life and respect for fellow (wo)man.
